Methodology & source
Values are World Bank World Development Indicators IS.AIR.PSGR (air transport, passengers carried, ICAO) divided by SP.POP.TOTL midyear population. This is a passenger-count intensity, not trips per resident from a household survey; a traveller counted on more than one segment can appear more than once, and tourist arrivals raise the ratio. Country rows are joined by ISO 3166-1 alpha-3; regional and income aggregates are excluded. Map ranks are comparable-sample competition ranks among currently loaded countries. Missing countries remain without a value.
