Cars per 1,000 people

Compare registered vehicles per 1,000 people across countries.

Methodology

Values are Our World in Data registered vehicles per 1,000 people, calculated from WHO Global Health Observatory registered-vehicle counts and UN World Population Prospects. Registered vehicles are those reported to a government agency; national definitions can include cars, buses, freight vehicles, and in some countries two- and three-wheelers. The GHO extract is one latest observation per country, mostly 2016; values are shown on catalog year 2016 with the source year retained as metadata. Country rows are joined by ISO 3166-1 alpha-3. Map ranks are comparable-sample competition ranks among currently loaded countries. Missing countries remain without a value.
