Temperature Change
Compare how much warmer each country's land surface was than the 1951-1980 climate.
Methodology
Values are FAOSTAT Temperature change on land, meteorological year, from NASA GISTEMP via FAO. They are modelled land-surface temperature anomalies in °C relative to the 1951-1980 GISTEMP/FAOSTAT climatology, not Paris Agreement pre-industrial 1850-1900. GISTEMP interpolates station observations onto a land grid; FAO area-weights that grid to countries using GAUL boundaries. FAOSTAT flags O (missing value), L (not collected), and M are skipped; blank cells are never converted to 0 °C. Negative anomalies are kept. OurBlueDot does not interpolate, fill missing years, or replace missing values with zero. Country rows are joined FAO M49 → ISO 3166-1 alpha-3; China uses M49 156; FAO China 159 and regional aggregates are excluded. Map ranks are comparable-sample competition ranks among currently loaded countries (rank 1 is the largest warming). Missing countries remain without a value.
