Compare modelled under-five mortality rates across countries.
Methodology
Values are World Bank World Development Indicators SH.DYN.MORT: under-five mortality rate, deaths per 1,000 live births. The figure is a modelled UN Inter-agency Group for Child Mortality Estimation (UN IGME) estimate — the probability per 1,000 that a newborn will die before reaching age five if subject to the age-specific mortality rates of that year. It is not a count of registered child deaths, a survey point estimate, infant mortality, neonatal mortality, a healthcare-quality score, or a composite health index. WDI republishes the IGME point estimate only; uncertainty intervals are not included. UN IGME Levels and Trends in Child Mortality 2025 treats 2024 as an estimate; 2025 and later scenario projections are omitted. OurBlueDot does not interpolate, fill missing years, replace missing values with zero, or add projections. Country rows are joined by ISO 3166-1 alpha-3; regional and income aggregates are excluded. Map ranks are comparable-sample competition ranks among currently loaded countries (rank 1 is the highest mortality). Lower values are more favorable. Missing countries remain without a value.
